Children's Choirs

Our children's choirs meet for practices every Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm.  While the adults are beginning the Wednesday night service, the children and directors of the choirs enjoy a fun-filled time of music and learning geared toward teaching our children about the one who loves them most—Jesus!

Why is it important for my child to learn how to sing and read music?

Music is an integral part of worship, because it puts our focus on God and prepares our hearts for preaching.  God loves when we praise Him through music - and everyone, including children, can participate in such an activity.  In fact, Jesus Himself said in Mark 10:14, “Suffer (allow) the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God.”  And Psalm 100:1 and 2 say, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord…come before his presence with singing.”

Our children’s choirs allow the children of the church as well as the helpers that lead them to put these Scriptures into practice.

Singing and practicing teaches children to obey Scripture by praising God through song.  It teaches them discipline when they attend faithfully and work hard every week, and it also gives them musical skills that will serve them throughout their lives.  Besides all this, singing is simply just enjoyable for children!  Once a month each choir sings for the church congregation the song it has been learning and practicing.

Little children love to perform for their parents and other adults.   A huge cuteness factor is involved when a bunch of three- to five-year-olds is put together and paraded into the auditorium, lined up, and then given the opportunity to sing before the church congregation.  With the girls all dressed up in frilly dresses and hair bows, and the boys in little suits and ties, they look like grown-ups in miniature.   Sometimes they succumb to shyness or stage fright, but even that can be quite adorable!  And what adult, especially a proud mom or dad, can resist the big grins (and an occasional wave) from an adorable bunch of little children singing their hearts out?

But my preschooler cannot read - how will he be able to learn the songs?

Children learn best by the use of hand motions with the music and by constant repetition.  Our preschool choir director knows this and chooses songs accordingly that are simple and easy to remember.

We hope to see you and your family very soon!  Take advantage of this opportunity, offered every Wednesday evening at 7 pm!
